Artistic Note

We are inside the lila, bathed in a diffuse light, the scent of incense immersing us in a suspended, unfamiliar density. What will happen on this intimate and open circular stage? Who is dancing? Who is watching? An out-of-time space emerges and carries us elsewhere, into a state of weightlessness, until the birth of the first gesture, driven by the vibration of the taqbal sounds that resonate like a deep heartbeat. The bodies come alive around us. The stage is not frontal, it surrounds us. The energy calls to us, questions us — everything begins… The maalem’s voice rises, everything expands and accelerates, releasing bursts of raw, striking, and unsettling emotion. Mussum is a piece of sensation, an elevation that transcends. Six dancers and two musicians share the same scenic territory. The music of Patrick DE OLIVEIRA and Nabil SANSI, between Gnawa rhythms and electronic textures, acts like an incantation that gives birth to movement and awakens the memory of bodies.
